Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by "custom"?

Each of our Christmas Stockings are made only after they are ordered, so you have quite a bit of say in everything from the pattern to the colors used.  It also means we can't just ship one out tomorrow if you order today.

How long does it take to make one of your custom Christmas Stockings?

It depends on what time of year you order, but sometime between 4 weeks and 12 weeks.  Our business is slowest from January to May, and starts picking up steadily from that point on.  If you order early in the year, it's usually between 4 weeks and 6 weeks.  By August its usually 10-12 weeks. Many times we cut off orders for Christmas delivery by the end of October, so we always recommend you order as early as possible.

Are they really Handmade?

Yes, absolutely.  Tracy does all the knitting herself. During the final Christmas push from August to December she will sometimes have help with the finishing (sequins, etc), but the knitting is all done by one human person... just like her grandma did.

What is your Return Policy?

Custom knitted stockings are much like any other monogrammed item. The stockings you order have been made to your specifications. As such, they are generally not returnable. However, we will do everything we can to ensure you are happy with the stockings and will work with you to make it right.  To read more about our return policy click here.

Can I order a stocking made from wool?

Absolutely.  Every stocking now has an option of wool in the listing. There is an additional charge for a stocking to be made with wool however, and unlike synthetic yarns, dye lots on wool vary from year to year, so colors will be very close, but might not match exactly.

My Mom/Grandma made a stocking with a pattern I don't see on your site, can you match it?

Probably.  We have many patterns that we don't have listed in our shop because we have just never made them.  Chances are, if your relative used an old pattern, we have it.  Please contact us if you are interested in having us match an existing stocking.  We're happy to help, and our matching service is complimentary!

Angora Yarn Availability and Pricing Changes

June 2025

We continue to face shortages in the availability of ethically sourced Angora yarn. Our former vendor in France closed in early 2024 and is no longer producing the yarn we’ve used in our stockings for years. Unfortunately, worldwide demand for Angora has not diminished. I have been able to continue to locate the same Angora yarn in retail deadstock at often exorbitant prices, but at this point, even that is coming to an end. Most of the Angora available today (through sites like Amazon or Etsy) is produced in China. Their methods of production are far inferior, and their treatment of the rabbits used to produce Angora is unregulated and often cruel. We cannot in good faith make Christmas Stockings out of yarn produced through cruelty and suffering.

With that in mind, in the coming months, we will start offering alternatives to Angora that will give the same fluffy look for Santa’s beard. If you have already ordered a stocking with Angora, your order will still include it. Future orders cannot be guaranteed; however, we will contact you if you place an order for Angora and it is not available.
